In the next few months, Columbia Medical Associates (CMA) clinics will be renamed Kaiser Permanente. Since 2011, CMA had been part of Group Health, which was acquired by Kaiser Permanente in February 2017. The name change will better symbolize the alignment between CMA and Kaiser Permanente.
A multi-specialty medical group, CMA operates eight medical offices with more than 60 providers in the Spokane area. With the addition of the CMA clinics, Kaiser Permanente now has 11 medical offices in the region:
|Kendall Yards||Lincoln Heights||Northpointe||Valley|
Along with a change in names, CMA will align systems and processes to more closely replicate the Kaiser Permanente model of care. CMA doctors have already joined Kaiser Permanente physicians as part of Washington Permanente Medical Group.
Kaiser Permanente members can access care at any of the newly named facilities. Patients receiving care from a CMA provider during the past year will receive a postcard the week of December 11th notifying them of the name change. The notice will include a phone number to call with questions or to make an appointment.
CMA continues to accept a variety of health insurance, including Kaiser Permanente. Insureds should validate network coverage with their health plan. At this time care will only be covered as in network by other health insurers for the CMA clinics. Correspondence and billing will continue to be sent from CMA, the phone numbers will be the same, and the patient portal will remain available to patients on the CMA website throughout 2018.
We are excited to grow and invest in the Spokane community by providing expanded access and the best care teams and experience to our members.
