Don’t let the flu get you!

Get the flu vaccineThe weather is cooler and days are getting shorter and shorter—clear signs that we’re well into flu season. However, it’s not too late for you and your clients to get a flu shot.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention recommends the flu vaccine for everyone over 6 months of age, especially pregnant women, people with chronic medical conditions, adults over age 50, and children under 5.

Group Health makes it easy for our members to get the flu vaccine:

  • Statewide, at all 25 Group Health Medical Centers locations
    • Available between 8:30 a.m. and 5 p.m., Monday through Friday
    • No appointment needed
    • No charge for Group Health members
  • At all CareClinic locations at Bartell Drugs in 10 Puget Sound-area neighborhoods
    • No appointment needed
    • No charge for Group Health members
  • At contracted pharmacies: Group Health members may get their flu shot in their network by showing their member card.
  • At a non–Group Health facility: Members will need to pay for the vaccination and submit a claim for reimbursement to Group Health.

Flu vaccines take about two weeks to provide full protection, but though the season is upon us the effort is still worth it. Because even if you do get the flu, the vaccine can make the illness milder and reduce the risk of more serious outcomes.
