Network changes may affect some specialty referrals

We’re constantly re-evaluating our network and operations because of our commitment to provide world-class integrated care to our members. We also strive to be as cost-effective as possible. As a result, we will be updating our provider network as of Jan. 1, 2018. That means that approximately 150 specialty providers will shift from contracted in-network to contracted out-of-network.

We have notified members who have referrals to those providers, and have given them several options for their care going forward:

  • A member can sign on to kp.org/wa/provider-directory and select a new provider directly.
  • A member currently receiving care from a provider who’ll be moving out of our network may complete all of the care covered under the original referral authorization.
  • A member who hasn’t yet started seeing the specialist may do so before the referral expires. Or, if desired, the member may be seen by one of our Kaiser Permanente providers or another provider in our network.

We‘re here to help members get the care they need and can help with any necessary transitions.  And we’re happy to answer any questions you may have. Call us at (206) 901-4636 or 1-901-4636 (TTY 711).
